Institute Overview

Established: 2010, as part of the new-generation NITs, declared an Institute of National Importance by Parliament.

Location: Currently operates from a temporary urban campus in Aizawl (Chaltlang), spanning multiple academic blocks and several hostels. A permanent campus is under development at Lengpui on a 190‑acre site.

Programs Offered: B.Tech in CSE, ECE, EEE, Civil, Mechanical; M.Tech and Ph.D. across engineering, natural sciences, and humanities.


Campus & Infrastructure

Academic setup includes one administrative block, 4–6 academic blocks, and separate hostel blocks for boys and girls.

Facilities feature a central library, modern labs with licensed software, campus-wide Wi‑Fi, generators, purified water, and 24/7 security.

Hostel amenities include mess serving all meals, TV/gym rooms, and dedicated buses to the academic zone.


Academics & Faculty

Admissions: Undergraduate via JEE Main + JoSAA counselling; M.Tech via GATE + CCMT; Ph.D. through national tests and institute-level interviews.

Departments: Offers a diverse range, including Engineering, Sciences, and Humanities.

Faculty: Around 100 academic staff with focus on teaching excellence and research; student-to-faculty ratio encourages strong mentoring.
